Cucumber plants dying at bottom of stalk?

I planted some Japenese Cucumber seeds and they popped up great, now the stalk has grown about 3 to 5 inches. I went out to check all my plants this morning and they all looked great. I went out that afternoon and the Cuc plant stalk at the bottom looked dead as a door k**b. It was green and strong in the morning and now it looks like a dehidrated pepper.

What could have happened? I have it planted in a 20 gallon pot and water it normally with 1.2 gallons of water every 3 days unless the average temp runs above the 90's then I will add a little water inbetween.

The pot is filled with black topsoil and a mixture of manure/compost. I also spray my plants with Serenade and organic spray for fungus and blite disease. (Spray treatment is done within manufacturers guidelines)

  1. When you click on the link ..the page comes up with a logo in the middle saying "we are now a private site"...pictures would have helped..but you tried..get an account at photobucket.com and upload the photos then post that link here

  2. your soil is lacking super phosphate, mix a handful in a bucket of water and sprinkle round the plant, you can save the others that way
