Cue Card all set for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon next month
With a tremendous kick start to the 2012 campaign, the six-year-old smart chaser, Cue Card, has laid his winning cards out for the next attempt that is highly likely to take him to the Peterborough Chase on 13th December at Huntingdon. The trainer, Collin Tizzard, has the King George VI Chase as the eventual bench mark of the 2012 campaign.
The speedy chaser landed the Grade 2 Sportingbet Haldon Gold Cup on 6th November, 2012 at Exeter race course over two miles and 1 ½ furlong.
Even before the race, the Colin Tizzard trained had a very strong backing because of his runner-up’s position in the 2011 edition of the Arkle.
Entered as the most favoured, the bay gelding defeated Edgardo Sol by a staggering twenty-six lengths.
The proud trainer on the amazing accomplishment of his under charge commented:
"He will definitely have an entry in the King George. Dad is sure he stays. He is bred to stay. He gets two and a half. We are going to have a look at it. I would imagine there will be a run in between but we will see how we get on tomorrow first."
The R. T. Crellin bred gets to team up with his trainer’s son, Joe Tizzard, whenever he is out racing, and the future races will be no different. The excited jockey commented:
"I'm delighted to report that Cue Card is in fantastic form, coming out of his race better than ever.
"His form gets hotter and hotter by the week. He will not run in Saturday's Betfair Chase against Long Run and others instead the Peterborough Chase is looking the likely option."
The six-year-old drew curtains of the last season with success in the Betfred Goals Galore Novives’ Chase (For The Hallowe’en Trophy) on 31st December, 2011 at Newbury race course over two miles and 2 ½ furlongs.
Paired up with his regular ride, Cue Card, defeated For Non Stop by four lengths.
The six-year-old has made quite an impression recently and staying consistent with the performance will get him the most desired entry to the King George VI Chase. The highly likely competitors for the season will come from the stables of trainer, Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls.
