Cue Card will be the one to beat in Sportingbet Haldon Gold Cup Chase
Only five runners have lined up for action in the Sportingbet Haldon Gold Cup Chase (A Limited Handicap) (Grade 2) at Exeter in England on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The competition amongst them will definitely be a tough one, as all of them have been trained
to fight hard at this level.
There has been a lot of rain at this venue over the past few days, but the conditions have started improving to some extent. Therefore, the going has become as good to soft, which will be good news for most of the participants.
The overall distance to cover in the class-1 contest will be 2 miles, 1 furlong and 110 yards. This means that the start will not matter much and it will be important for all of the runners to save some energy for the ending moments.
Everyone will be looking forward to the all important event, which has a cash prize of £35,594 for the winner.
According to the bookmakers, no one will be able to match the skills of Cue Card, who has got a pretty decent record at this level. He has been given a general starting price of 10 to 11 and the punters will definitely be interested in risking a lot of bets
on him.
The six-year-old gelding has appeared in just five chase events until now and there was only one occasion when he dropped out of the top-three. Other than that, his performances have been up to the mark, as he secured the top spot twice whereas finished
as a runner up on the same number of times.
The Colin Tizzard’s trainee has appeared in just one event this year and he failed to take the top spot in it. He will be looking to open his account today under jockey, Joe Tizzard.
However, Edgardo Sol will be looking to spoil the party for the race favourite, as he too will be confident of winning the race at Exeter. He has been impressive throughout his career and has performed really well during chase events.
The Paul Nicholls’ trainee has also taken part in five of such races, winning two of them. Moreover, he secured the runner up and third places once each, which shows what he is capable of achieving at this level.
