  1. CCA doesn't have a very good reputation within the hospitality industry. It is viewed as little more than a diploma mill. The local weekly did a series of articles on them that you may want to review. Here is a link to one of them:

City College on the other hand has a pretty good F&B department and is actually well thought of and much less expensive

  2. The California Culinary Academy (in SF) has a great reputation - and it apparently is now affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu.   The CIA (Culinary Institute of America, which is HQed in NY) also has a branch in California, but it is up in Napa (about 30 miles away).

  3. Well, I've only been to SF once when I was 15 ; so I don't know about the culinary schools there in general.  But what I do know about culinary schools, is that my cousin went to a culinary school after his graduation from high school.

6 mos in that school, and he had a s*x change operation (from male--> female), and became a moonlighter, seriously.

I hope this helps with your decision.

  4. Culinary Acad. in S.F. has very good reputation, but EXPENSIVE.  If you're just starting out I would recommend S.F. City College.  They have very good program designed for chef wannabees.

  5. they have a cordan blue there

  6. contra costa college has a great program
