Cullentry Royal pointed for victory in the Cleveragh INH Flat Race at Sligo
The Cleveragh INH Flat Race for the four-year-olds will be held at Sligo over two miles and two furlongs on Wednesday, 23rd May. The line-up of seven has entries who are lightly raced and a candidate racing his career debut. The prize money set for the winner is €5,520.
Cullentry Royal, Royal Applause’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Fleur A Lay, has shot into the racing career just during this season and has bagged his career debut.
Trained by Gordon Elliott, he was the 8/13 favourite winner of the Countysligoraces.Com (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Sligo over two miles and two furlongs on 6th May.
With Miss. N. Carberry onboard, Cullentry Royal led the runner up of the race, Derrylea Girl, by two lengths.
Coming at terms with the third slot was Roman Numeral.
He is the only entry on the line-up who has raced and won at Sligo that too through his career debut.
The second outing of his career is again at Sligo and if he displays the same level of confidence that he did during the first try then there is not much that will keep him away from the wire today.
Another contestant for the race who has set strong footing in her racing career is Glens Melody, King’s Theatre’s four-year-old bay filly out of mare, Glens Music, she did not wait for long to prove herself.
She won the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Fillies Scheme Premier Bumper on 27th April at Punchestown over two miles and a furlong. Riding with K. Walsh, she took charge of the final three and a half lengths and set Tasitiocht, into the runner up’s position.
Settling third was Pops Well while the 5/2 favourite of the race, Lughnasa, ended eighth on the track of twenty-three.
She too is at the same level as Cullentry Royal but has the disadvantage of being inexperienced at Sligo.
The entry who can take the experienced and the inexperienced by surprise is Glazier who is racing for the very first time.
Cullentry Royal has the highest of the chances to not only lead but dominate the track today, pairing up wins at Sligo.
