Cultural Anthropology?

My friend is studing Cultural Anthropology. He goes to NAU and lives completly off loans. He has also racked up alot of credit card debt. I asked him what he is going to do when he graduates and has to pay all that back. He told me when he get his bachlors in Cul. Antro he will be making big bucks and his debt will be no problem. Can you make instant big buck with a bachlors in Cultural Antropology? I heard that degree is only good for hanging on the wall? Is that true. Is my friend screwed?

I'm studying Anthropology right now. I'm doing Biological and will continue on with a Master's in Biology, but I've taken quite a few Cultural classes.  To say that you'll make "big bucks" right off the bat with a social science degree is greatly over-exaggerating.  Cultural Anthropologists are notoriously "poor", at least compared to the three other Anthro sub-disciplines.  To make big bucks at all he's going to need a Ph.D. so he can teach at a college level.  No one makes big bucks by doing fieldwork, especially not with a Bachelor's.  You should probably tell him that he has been greatly misinformed.  

Was he being sarcastic? Because if not...wow.
