Cultural food by region (US)?

What foods in your region of the country are common that people don't usually eat elsewhere?

For example: I mentioned bierox/bierocks in another answer, I never realized until today that it's only common in the Midwest.

  1. Hawaii - Kalua Pig, Lau Lau, Lomi Salmon, Opihi


  2. I'm from Eastern Pa, PA Dutch food like shoo fly pie, pot pies and kiffles. Some polish food like pieroges... And lots of Puerto Rican food--chicharrones, pasteles, arroz con gandules, etc.


  3. I've lived in the Midwest all my life & have never heard of bierox/bierocks before.

  4. Now living in Florida...lots of southern and south-western foods, BBQ ribs and Mexican as well as Caribbean.

    Formerly of PA, where PA Dutch foods prevailed; ring bologna, pot pies, pasties (English), and Italian foods, pizza, stromboli and calzones, Philly Cheese Steaks!  

  5. In Wisconsin, we eat lots of Venison...and anything else we can legally hunt.

    No clue what bierox is.
