Question:

Cultures which do NOT claim to have discovered America?

I thought it might be simpler to enumerate the cultures which do NOT claim to have discovered America, because they're probably in a minority, among history's pathological exaggerators.

And among those, could we classify them according to whether they were not advanved or motivated enough, just being honest (e.g. Poland), not throwing their hat in the ring for the sake of it, or not telling geography-defying tales (Kazakhstan).

Also, do we need a Cultural Superiority Award for cultures which claim to have discovered America and not thought enough of it to bother hyping it to the folks back home?

[Disclaimer: I obviously mean non-native cultures]

  1. AKA! Another kunfused American!

  2. The people who "discovered" America did so over 30,000 years ago. Some followed game herds over the Bering Land Bridge, some came by boat following the coastline.  They came from Siberia, Mongolia, India, and there is DNA evidence that some even came from Europe. America was a melting pot long before modern times!

  3. None of the Aboriginal Australian cultures have claimed to discover America.

  4. With new DNA tests showing that many Native Americans are directly related to ancient European cultures, I'm not sure there is anyone not involved in it, either directly or indirectly.
