Cumberworth hopeful of DHCL contract: Darkes Huddersfield Cricket League
The champions of last year’s Huddersfield Central League, Cumberworth are eagerly waiting for the positive response in regards to their application for joining League’s 2012 edition. Their position seems to be really strong as the league executives are putting
their case forward in front of the council members.
Having paid a comprehensive visit to the Cumberworth Club, the league executives strongly believe that the side is fully prepared and can prove to be a valuable asset and the most suitable replacement of Micklehurst, who are joining Saddleworth League from
the next season.
Cumberworth Club is well-established both in terms of logistics and talent. The club has brilliant players and excellent facilities for them to play and polish their skills. The players have been passing through tough practice routines to improve themselves
more, despite being the top-ranked club for last 10 years.
Cumberworth have a good track record in the League. They have claimed 5 titles since 2004 and that is the reason the League officials are striving to take the Club under their net for the next season.
Cumberworth were also doing pretty good with the Central League. However, after playing the last season, they announced to quit the League and applied for the Darkes League. Now it is up to the council members, who are going to vote, to accept or reject
their application.
Some analysts have also suggested the League members to embrace Cumberworth as the club has the potential to elevate the league’s standard and popularity to a great extent. The Club officials also anticipate that the League will welcome their proposal and
give them an opportunity to demonstrate their worth next season.
Due to the rapidly increasing popularity of Darkes Huddersfield Cricket League, some other clubs are also vying for membership with them for the next season. One of the aspirants are Mirfield, whose officials are in two minds whether to apply or not, as
some of them have voted against this move. In this situation, the position of the Cumberworth becomes stronger and their chances more bright.
