Cunning Black to reach beyond hat trick in the Suffolk 375 at Mildenhall on 17th April
The Suffolk 375 will get staged at Mildenhall over 375 metres flat on Tuesday, 17th April. Competing in the event that carriers a £150 prize money are Cunning Black, Creamery Dream, Sundance Jet, Cals Impact, Gifted Legend and Droopys Doctor.
The leading entry on the line-up is Cunning Black, Crash’s five-year-old black son out of b***h, Kilcoran Chick. Success in the last three races has entitled him to a hat trick. He cracked into the season on 13th January and bagged the seasonal debut that came in the form of Grade A4 375 metres flat at Mildenhall.
He completed the trip in 23.71 seconds and was followed by the 6/4 favourite runner up of the race, Cloncunny Dubh, who leapt over the 4 ¾ lengths and timed the track in 24.09 seconds.
Settling into the third slot was Swift Event.
The five-year-old then remained unlucky in the next four races that came his way. He finished a miserable sixth twice, a third and then a hopeless fifth. Almost as if avenging for the irreparable loss, Cunning Black dominated all the last three starts that stand proudly on his profile.
He won a Grade A4 375 metres flat at Mildenhall on 20th March by clocking the track distance in 23.65 seconds and led the runner up of the race, Micks Penny, by a length. He went across the wire in 23.73 seconds.
Coming at terms with the third position was Kilema Kyaro.
The 2/1 favourite of the race, Qualche Cane, finished in the end after taking 24.03 seconds.
He bagged the second leg of the hat trick by winning a Grade A3 375 metres flat race at Mildenhall on 3rd April. He reached the other end of the wire in 23.81 seconds and had a 4 ¼ lenghts’ lead under belt.
Cookes My Mate ended as the runner up after taking 24.15 seconds to race across the wire. Noisy Neighbour made it on the other end of the wire third behind the winner.
The final race that got Cunning Black the honour of crediting a hat trick came on 10th April in the form of Grade A3 375 metres flat at Mildenhall. He covered the track distance in 23.44 seconds.
Today Cunning Black has the chance of extending the hat trick and claiming a straight fourth victory.
