  1. In my Judo Club, we weren't allowed to wear plastic or steel cups (perhaps for that reason). But as the other guy said, padded jockstraps isn't a bad idea.

  2. You should always wear a cup in Judo or any other martial arts. I can recall working on the throw tomonage. I can't remember how to spell it correctly. It is the stomach throw. Well as you may know we are supposed to place our foot on the inner thigh to make the throw. The person that was throwing me kept kicking me in the groin to throw me. The last 2 throws before I changed partners really hurt. That was with a cup on. I can't imagine not have the cup.

You may need a better cup or a different size.

    Edit:

I was going to mention the kind that boxer wear, but has anyone noticed the name of the person asking this question. Makes you wonder if this is a troll. Hmmmm

  3. A 'padded jockstrap' and not a 'cup'.

In our Judo class back in 1968 we quickly discovered the disadvantages of wearing a 'cup' while doing Judo.

The padded jockstrap or padded jock-underwear is still the best protection for Judo.
