  1. Once the cupboard is cleaned out use a product called Naphthalene. It can be bought in flake form or in a small block that is hung inside the wardrobe. This keeps moths away for some months but must be replaced to stop them coming back.

You can get it at most supermarkets. Woolworth's, Coles, Aldis, IGA and Franklin's in Australia.

This is a moth repellent in Britain

  2. First, empty your cupboard completely. Look at each container as you take it out. Throw out old boxes and bags of food, and opened things that you haven't used in a while. You will probably find at least one food source while you are doing this. Put it in a plastic bag, seal, and take outside right away.

When the cupboard is empty, wipe down the shelves and sides with hot water and a little dishwashing liquid. You can add a couple drops of bleach if you want, but just a couple. You may want to vacuum the cupboard out first if there's junk in the back or the corners.

Put a couple bowls of vinegar on different shelves and close the doors and let sit overnight. The moths do not like the vinegar and it will drive them out. In the morning, check the shelves and start putting things back. I would put anything that comes in a cardboard box or a plastic bag in a resealable container with a tight-fitting lid. The pantry moths hitch a ride to your home in the cardboard boxes from the store, and they particularly love the grain items, cereal, rice, etc. This should get rid of them, but they can be tricky. If you get rid of their food sources, they will go away. Don't put opened food boxes in your cupboard.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

If you want to use something that's natural and good for our planet you should try the 'goodbye friends' product from green leap. www.greenleap.com.au It's under their Pets & Pests section. Excellent product and safe to use in your cupboard.
