The Melbourne track came under severe criticism by the Indian commentator after the first Test ended. They argued that it was a good enough pitch for a five-day match, as there was nothing for the batsmen.

"I was happy with that (pitch for the game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755). The last two years we've really got it together and it has really come up well. I'm hoping to have a pitch somewhat similar to
that,” said Parker.
“That's the ideal scenario and that's what we're aiming for. The weather's been kind to me and the forecast is for hot sunny days in the lead-up to the Test and the first couple of days of the Test, so I don't see why it shouldn't be perfect for us," he
added.
There is a lot of rain going on in the town, but the wicket supervisor is not bothered by the bad weather. He described that the ground staff has sufficient equipments to save the pitch from the showers and prepare for fine track for the game.
