Curci confident of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603’s chances of finishing in the top four and willing to fight for places
A.S Roma goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluca-Curci-c14820, believes that his side can break into the top three after the summer spending spree.
Roma had a far from impressive 2010/11 campaign and finished sixth in the league table. However, since the change in ownership at the club this summer, the Giallorossi have done impressive business in the summer market.
New manager, Luis Enrique, has clearly mentioned that he means business and has laid down his philosophy of playing attacking football at the club. Curci believes that the club have signed the ideal mix of players with a blend
of both youth and experience. Roma have signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Heinze-c14310 from Olympique Marseille.
The goalkeeper is confident that his team will return to European competitions from the next season.
Talking to the reporters Curci said, "The team that is being built can get to the top, we've made important acquisitions. A strong mix of youth and veterans. I think we can aim high, third place could be a good placement."
The former Italian U-21 star re-joined the Italian outfit from Sampdoria this summer and he is aware that the club are on the verge of signing Ajax shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998. The 26-year-old is confident to fight for places
at Rome but also praised the Dutch international. Stekelenburg’s signing would send Curci further down in the pecking order of goalkeepers at Rome and will be the third choice after Romanian shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bogdan-Lobont-c7753.
"Surely the boss will start Stekelenburg, I saw the World Cup where he did very well. He will have to adapt to Italian football, but a player of his experience will have to do very little. But I will endeavour to prove the coach
wrong."
The former Siena star wants unsettled duo, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mirko-Vucinic-c26024 to stay at the club and believes that they have a huge role to play in Roma’s success next season. The goalkeeper emerged from the youth ranks of Roma
in 2004 and after spending four years at the club, he was sold to Siena in 2008.
