What does engagement means? Can someone get engaged to 2 person at the same time?

It means that you're going to get married. You probably can be engaged to two people but you'd have to pick one to marry.

Engagement in the U.S. is when one person (usually the man) asks their love to marry them.  

If that person says "yes", then they are engaged.  

Instead of calling each other boyfriend or girlfriend, they call each other fiancé (it's a French word).  

The engagement ends and turns into marriage when the two people get married.

If someone is engaged to two people, then they are not a very honest person.

Engagement means you have promised yourself to someone and plan to marry them.  Its not legal, its just like an upgrade from boyfriend and girlfriend with some wedding planning in the middle.

You can be enegaged to more then one person as its a promise, but its illegal to marry more then one at a time.

Being engaged, betrothed or affianced, all mean that a person has promised himself/herself to marry a specific person. The guy usually asks the girl (the proposal is the "promise") and if the girl (or her father in some cases) accepts, (that's her "promise"), then they have agreed to be married in the forseeable future, and use the following days/months/years to prepare/organize the wedding.

Legally, it is possible to be engaged to more than one person, but no one can legally be married more than one person (at a time) in the US. There are other countries/cultures that allow a man to marry as many women as he can afford to maintain, but that is illegal in the US.

So, if you are engaged, and in the States, I would suggest you start thinking, and deciding, which of the two you will marry.....

Engagement means you are committed to marrying that person.

You can legally be engaged to more than one person at a time, depending on your state laws, but it really defeats the purpose of being engaged because you can only marry one person, and an engagement is a committment to marry.
