Curious about Greek mythology?

I've just been looking through a few sites about greek mythology and there's just so much to take in. Where's a good place to start?

A good place to start would be the basic Olympian gods: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, and Hephaestus. When you know a lot about them then you should move into the fables. When you learn those then you can move into the minor gods and less known stories. I recommend Mythology by Edith Hamilton. It covers everything a beginner needs to know about Greek mythology. It also has some Norse and Roman mythology. I hope this helps. ( :

Edith Hamilton's Mythology is a great place to start. It is a very good book it is about what the greeks and romans believed and is less about the history.

Read a few article everyday

Start with the ancient writings themselves, rather than modern interpretations.

First read Hesiod. Namely Theogeny.

Then go through the Homeric Hymns.

There IS a ton of info to take in! It's overwhelming. http://www.paleothea.com/ is very beginner- and user-friendly, though it does focus more on the goddesses and women in Greek mythology than the men--however, there is a good list of the males. The Myths page is a good place to start.

Wikepedia will give you a broad outline  from which you can narrow down to which periods or characters interest you.
