From looking around it appears that and electrical engineer has harder work involving thinking whereas a normal electrician does more hands on kinds of work. Is becoming an electric engineer a lot harder work? And also what are the salary differences between them?

  1. My bf's an electrician.  The difference between the two is that an electrician is an apprenticeship program meaning you only go to school for two months out of the year for a total of four years. To be an electrical engineer you have to get a degree which requires five or so FULL years of schooling.  Beleive it or not they make the same by the time their journeymen.  Although it does vary a little depending on the location.  Electricians do the hard dirty work all day while the engineers sit on their butts making blue prints sort to speak.  Electricians use brains and brawn while Engineers use just brains.  I must say it's a good work out for him though, abs of steel if you know what I mean, and nice arms.  Lol hope that helped.  Btw he loves being an electrician, so go for it if you're interested.

  2. I am an industrial electrician. I fix things that break and find problems. most of my work is brain work but a little of both worlds keeps it interesting. payscales vary greatly. what I do is above regular electrician but below engineering
