Curious about online schools!!!! ?

I have never been given a price quote about online schools... does anyone know about how much some of these cost.. how much did your's cost; mainly university of phoenix (but any school will do)?? A friend of mine was screwed over by one of the schools, had to pay a large amount, even after using finantual aid.. are they all like that? does anyone recomend one??

It depends on the degree you are going for as well as the school's nature.  Last time I checked UOP was charging $450 per credit!!!  Online is almost always a little more expensive than brick and mortar but usually not by much.  I work for an online school that offers associate degrees and we charge $80-85 per credit depending on the degree.  This is comparable to most community colleges.

    You definitely need to be careful when researching schools as some of them are a rip off.  Always make sure they are accredited through the Distance Education and Training Council (www.detc.org) and are in good standing with the BBB (bbbonline.org).  This will help protect your investment.  

    One last thing I would consider on this front is the schools reputation in the marketplace, when you graduate will having the school on your resume help you or hurt you?  As an employer I personally do not consider candidates who graduated from UOP as it is widely accepted that you are merely buying a degree from them.  That being said myself and most other employers do tend to favor candidates who went to an online school vs. a brick and mortar school.
