My dog (6 mos.) recently recovered from Parvo. He was at the vet for 3 days and on the 3rd he was completely better eating food and pooping whole. I got him back last night and he slept all night and I dont want to keep him in the house all day and was wondering if it'd be okay to take him to the dog park?

  1. hi,

"Parvo" is a word most puppy owners learn, and learn to dread. It's short for canine parvovirus, the most common infectious dog disease in the U.S.

Even though it's a relatively new disease in the dog world, parvo's ubiquitous--present at significant levels in every environment, from home to kennel to park. In fact, trying to shield a puppy from exposure is considered completely futile in this day and age. It's a ridiculously tough virus that can survive for months on living things, and even on objects such as furniture, toys, and carpets.

    hope this helps.

  2. No. your dog actually needs to stay inside for at least 6 weeks, only go outside to potty and maybe a short walk... as for your yard if you havent already spray it with bleach and water solution to kill the virus..i would definitely not go to a dog park.

  3. oh.. I think so.... I have a dog too his names Panda and he is so lazy to go to the park with me!!!! I have to drag him... oh...err!!! He just likes to chase cats!!!!

and oh..hey just wanna say this YOU ARE VERY PRETTY=)

  4. You probally want to wait a little while before you take him out.

Call your vet and ask him when a good time will be, to take him out.

  5. u should let him rest for a week because he might be stressed out and tired for recovery.instead or taking ur dog to dog park, play with him at home and give him lots of attention during the whole week. when the week passed by, u can take him to dog park to play.

  6. No.  Remembering what you just went through with your dog you don't want others to have to go through that do you?  Of course not.  Then keep him home until your vet says it's safe for him to go out and mingle with the other dogs.  You will be doing everyone a favor by doing so.  He can still shed the virus in his urine for quite a while and other dogs can contract Parvo if they come into contact with the saliva or urine or f***s. This is why Parvo continues to be such a threat worldwide.

So glad your dog has recovered, that is pure joy!
