Butter is my favorite condiment right so when i eat something that you put butter i want EXTRA EXTRA BUTTER! Like bagles, toast and whatever else you put butter on. People tell me that it is no good for you if you eat so much butter. So is it bad to eat to much butter and if so is there a certin kind of butter i can buy instead that won't be so bad for my body?

  1. Try maybe lowfat butter.

  2. You might try Earth Balance brand margarine.  It is pretty buttery (though nothing will taste just like butter, I'm sure), and is non-hydrogenated like most margarines (SmartBalance is also a non-hydrogenated margarine option--I like Earth Balance better).  Avoid margarines with hydrogenated oils; they are very unhealthy, and in some opinions, worse for you than butter.  Earth Balance also has a new half non-hydrogenated margarine, half butter blend, which might be a good option.

Of course, non-hydrogenated margarines still have a lot of fat, so you should probably avoid eating too much.  You could try eating hummus instead sometimes (try hummus on a sun-dried tomato bagel!).

  3. This really isn't a question about vegetarianism but butter is loaded with saturated fat...which is very bad.  It's OK in moderation but you are better off using something like Earth Balance or organic smart balance...in moderation as well.

  4. Butter has a lot of saturated fat in it, which is worse for you than unsaturated fat - basically it puts you at a higher risk of heart disease and other health problems (obesity is the most obvious). Unsaturated fat is higher in vegetable based oils and spreads, and saturated is mostly in animal products. Watch out though because trans fat, which is really even worse than saturated fat, is also unsaturated. "I can't believe it's not butter" does not have high levels of trans fat and would probably be okay as a substitute if you are just worried about getting too much fat in your diet. Everyone needs a little fat in their diet but we all know what happens when you overdo it!

  5. yeah too much is bad.

i'm vegan and i used to love butter but then i switched over to SmartBalance Light "Butter"

It doesn't taste exactly the same as real butter but it is really good & you can use a lot and still be healthy

  6. just eat your butter

  7. Try using olive oil with some crushed garlic , and other spices , perhaps some Parmesan cheese makes a tasty treat for dipping bread .. Recovering butter-holic

  8. yes it is very bad to eat butter (too much) and i do know a i cant believe its not butter

  9. there are lots of alternatives eg; salt reduced, skim, margarine,

one that would probably be good for you seeing as you obviously like the taste of butter is dairy blend which is halve butter half margarine either way your body needs some fat so it should be alright so long as you don't eat too much other fatty food

    hope this helped

  10. Just don't touch margarine

At the molecular level, mararine is just one or two more bonds from becoming plastic!

  11. I CAnt believe its not Butter!!

  12. At the very least, it can't be good for you.

We don't use butter substitutes in the restaruant here I work. Instead we use olive and other oils to give flavour. I don't know if that would be an acceptable alternative for you though. As a cook, I am not really fond of using substitutes. Maybe you could still have butter but use less.

By the way, Believe it or Not!  did feature an Indian mystic who eats nothing but butter and he is reed thin. But I don't know if he is still alive and he  is probably the exception that proves the rule as the saying goes.

  13. Lowfat Butter or

    Fake Butter

    Will work the most

  14. um why is this in vegan?

and yeah it's bad for you

even the fake stuff is bad for you

    try natural foods

and eat butter, just less of it

and eat whole wheat bread for your toast

  15. um yes butter is bad for you, its only because it has alot of salt in it, if you but unsalted butter, it will take some getting use too, but it is much better for you, or just eat margerine
