  1. They do enjoy living in pairs, so I would get another. If they have space, they won't fight. Girls usually don't fight anyway. It's mainly a man thing.

And all of them have different personalities. Some are shy, some love adventure! It's all depending on the guinea pig you own. Yours is pretty cool! They are usually scared of a lot of stuff. It's also normal to have kinda lazy guinea pigs.

Once again, they all have different personalities. Some squeak a lot, some a little, some not at all. She's normal, just quiet.

  2. That is correct. They are social animals, and living with other guinea pigs is as important to them as having a good cage, bedding and diet.

Female guinea pigs are really lenient. They are hardly territorial, and will tolerate anyone new in their space. Most likely, there will be as much as a few little nips at first, adn from there on, just smooth sailing.

If you just got her, she is TERRIFIED of everything! Guinea pigs are prey animals. In the wild, if they go somewhere they aren't familiar with, and larger animals (like people) keep hanging around them, they fear that those larger animals will harm them. All piggies can do to defend themselves is run away, and since she is in a cage, all she can di is camoflauge. If she is frozen ad silent, it is because she is trying to hide from you. Please do not disturb her. Too much stress is overwhelming for them. Make sure you have many hiding boxes for he to feel safe in.

Right now, it is very important that you leave her alone, preferbly even keep everyone out of the room so she can have some time to herself to investigate her cage. Right now, she probably thinks her cage is going to eat her! Just give her a few days before you hold her.

And get another guinea pigs as soon as possible, while she is still "new". Guinea pigs will adjust a lot faster to thier new homes if they have friends with them. Try to get a piggy that lived in the same cage you got her in.

  3. 1.) Yes, guinea pigs are better together and females are less likely to fight than two males. I'd advise you go to a pet shop and explain the situation, and they'll show you another female.

2.) ...Isn't her not being scared good?

3.) She's not active because you /just got her/. She's still getting used to her situation.

4.) They don't randomly squeak! They squeak in fear or excitment and are more likely to squeak in a group as they communicate with each other.
