Curitiba, Brazil: Best time for travel?

Hey there, I'm planning to travel to Brazil next year. Destination? Curitiba (main city of Paraná state)

Well, I was wondering what is the best time for being there. I like to walk a lot, take pictures, visit important architecture. I dislike beach, nightclubes and parties. Given that I like to be mostly outdoors, I don't like extreme temperatures, I prefer a temperated weather... You might be thinking it's weird because Brazil has a reputation for its high temperature.

So, has anyone been there? Please suggest me a nice date for my trip. Thanks a lot.

  1. Brazil is a continental country with 8 millions km2 and only an idiot would think that it has the same weather in the entire country, no offenses. Rio de Janeiro has a reputation for its high temperatures and check out, BRAZIL IS MORE THAN RIO DE JANEIRO. Curitiba is situated 800m above the sea level and has a very nice weather. The average temperature in Curitiba is 18 Celsius. In 2006 the highest temperature was 32 and the lowest was 0.

The hottest month is January with a maximun of 26 and minimun of 16. The coldest is June with maximun of 18 and minimun of 8.

  2. As the previous answer shows, Curitiba has a pretty mild climate. It can get a bit cold in the winter (July-August). If you want to guarantee less extreme weather, spring and fall are good bets.
