Curlin iron help?????????????

i just got a curling iron (conair) and it came with this round brush-like attachment (http://www.conair-store.com/imagesEdp/p29365b.jpg) that fits over the metal (hot) part of the curling iron. i have NO clue what its for/how to use it/why/etc. help?? SOS!! tnx

If so, my friend has one of those and uses it to curl her bangs.. she has straight across bangs and when she uses that attachment to curl them, they end up looking like this:

you can also use the attachment just as a regular curling iron and it will just give a little wave to your hair.
