Curlyy hair problem?! ?

i have naturally curly hair. last year i straightened it all the time, maybe 4 months. i stopped straightening it because i really liked the way my hair curled! i pull the top half of my hair back and let the bottom half of my hair curl and then i straighten my side bangs. its a cute look, but im tired of always having to pull the top half back. i pull it back because i have pretty thick hair. i also have blonde highlights that im trying to get of and i really dont like seeing them. when i pull down the top half it doesnt curl as well as the bottom ( which is supposed to happen because the top is heavier ) but it does curl a little bit but it just looks really really stringy and ugly. is there any way i can make it curl better on the top?

-- i also thought about thinning out the top half. is that a bad idea? help me!

  1. go here and go to hair tips there's curly hair tips a lot!

  2. both i and 2 of my sisters have natural curly hair and ask your stylist to use thinning shears.  it really helps make it more managable and lets you keep the same look overall.  some products are also made especially for curly hair and seem to ease out the frizz and uneven sections. hope that helps cuz i've seem my sisters struggle with their hair relentlessly lol

  3.         I know what you're going through. I have thick, curly hair too. I can tell you that the reason the top half of your hair is not curling right because you have it pulled back all the time. That will loosen your curls unevenly if you don't do the same to the bottom.

First of all, DON'T thin your hair out unless you plan on straightening it all the time. All that's gonna do is make your hair poofy and frizzy on the top and not the bottom.

Here's what I do when I wear my hair curly. Use a de-frizz spray. Spray it on all of your hair when it's towel dried. Next, I put moose in it section by section from bottom to top. After you put moose in one section scrunch and blow dry at the same time when you get the look you want, then go to the next section and so on until your done. Sometimes it helps to just get a hand full of hair and hold it there under the blow dryer for a few seconds. That would be better for the top half of your hair because that's where it's not curling right. A really cute thing to do is to straighten your bangs how you normally do but leave the rest curly.

Remember to find the right moose for your hair. A lot of times that can be the problem. The scrunching moose for curly hair is not always the best kind. I use the Wieghtless Body moose by TreSemme. Just try different ones until you find one you like.

Well, I guess that's all the help I can give you. Oh yeah, and about your highlights, don't be scared to dye your hair again, even if it's back to it's natural color. Just make sure you wait the right amount of time and use deep conditioning masks for your hair and when you blow dry it use a heat protection conditioning spray. I use V05 conditioning spray. It's a red bottle with a flat iron and a blow dryer on the lable and it's called Miracle Mist.

Anyways, hope that helps. I feel your pain...

  4. ooo i don't know, i would ask a professional because you may need a conditioning treatment to make the hair less stringy, thinning it wouldn't be a bad ide but thick is hard to come by and should embrace it darling!!

  5. I would recommend the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted shampoo and conditioner. I use them on my naturally curly hair and they are awesome! I also finish with a big ball of mousse while my hair is still wet [not damp]. I would say layers work well because they make the curls stand out, get lots and below the chin, anything above the chin will make them look small and funny.

I've also used the Treseme (sp) curling shampoo, I love the conditioner! It always makes my curls soft and pretty.

Good luck! oh and ps, don't use gel, it makes curls look crunchy and there's nothing worse than crunchy, hard curls.

  6. does that happen when u dont use products in it?

    if so

then you can put mouse in your hair and scrunch it which makes it curl more

the description of your hair sounds very similar to mine

if i ever wanna leave my hair curly without it getting frizzy, then i use treseme mouse and it stays really nicely and looks natural rather than "done"

    hope this helps =)
