Question:

Currency collecting question?

I recently found about 35 $20 bills that had been hidden since about 1982. All the bills are at least 26 years old and are in very good condition. Do they have any value beyond face value? Or should I just be excited about finding $700 in cash?

  1. It actually depends on what grade they are and what series they are. The dates (series) is not the date they were printed anyway but the date authorized. They add a letter when the signature changes. An example would be 1981 and 1981A. Another factor is if any of the notes has a star in place of a letter at the ends of a serial number. Star notes are replacement notes and are in most cases somewhat scarce. When it come to numismatics 26 years old is new again in most cases. I would need the series to help any further.

  2. Not unless they have some kind of mistake on them, typically.

Contact a local coin dealer and get books about it.
