Question

How are Queen Elizabeth II and her son and the two princes related to King Henry VIII. Is there any relation? I figure there must be some but not quite sure how.

They are actually direct descendants of King Henry VII, father of King Hinry VIII.  Henry VII married his daughter to the King James of Scotland who fathered Queen Mary of Scotland, who in turn gave birth to King James of Scotland who became King James I of England.  All British monarchs are since have been King James I's descendants, many on multiple lines.

Somewhat distantly.  Pretty much all the royal people in Europe are related somehow.

Yes, they are very distant, distant distant relatives. King James I of England (James IV of Scotland) was the son of Mary of Scot, who was the granddaughter of Princess Margaret Tudor, Henry VIII's elder sister. Queen Elizabeth II is a descendant of King James I of England (James IV of Scotland) through his eldest daughter, Princess Elizabeth Stuart, whose youngest daughter was Electress Sophia of Hanover, who married a German Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. Their son, George eventually inherited the crown of England, Scotland and Ireland as George I of Great Britain. He was the great-great-great...grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.

Note: This is also why Elizabeth II has a mix of English-Scottish-German heritage.
