Good morning. Its been several years since I moved out of London. I know most of the routemaster fleet has been sold off elesewhere. I've tried looking on the Transport For London website for routemaster bus routes,but have been unsuccessful.

Do you know if there are still any current routemaster bus routes operating in London please? if so,what are their routes and frequencies please? If there is a website,may I know of it please? I fancy a nostalgia day in London,and would love to travel on a routemaster again if possible.

Thank you very much indeed for your help. I have to go out now,but thank you very much for your kind help in advance.

  1. Routemasters have been completely withdrawn from "normal" services. However, on service 15 there is a supplementary "Historic Vehicle" timetable operating between the Tower and Trafalgar Square.

    Go onto the TfL website. Click on bus timetables, then select route number 15. You then have the option of selecting the Routemaster timetable.

    When you have your nostalgia day, remember you are travelling on vehicles designed over 60 years ago and the vehicle you are in will be over 45 years old.

    I find it strange that people complain about travelling in trains which are 20 years old (they are built to last 30-40 years), but still mourn the long-overdue demise of the Routemaster.

  2. There are restored Roumasters operating on two heritage routes:

    * Heritage route 9 *:

    Royal Albert Hall — Hyde Park Corner — Piccadilly Circus — Trafalgar Square — Strand — Aldwych.

    Level: Daily

    Frequency: About every 15 minutes

    Journey time: 25-29 minutes

    Running from: 9:30am until 7:00pm

    * Heritage route 15 *:

    Trafalgar Square — Strand — Aldwych — Fleet Street — Cannon Street — Monument — Tower Hill.

    Level: Daily

    Frequency: About every 15 minutes

    Journey time: 24-25 minutes

    Running from: 9:30am until 7:00pm

    These two heritage routes are not considered part of the regular TfL bus network but both Travelcards and Oyster cards can be used on them or you can pay the £2 cash fare.

    I've taken a few trips down memory lane on the heritage Routemasters and I could not recommend a ride on them any higher! To me it's an absolute must do for first-time visitors and Londoners alike.

  3. Yep there's just the one now, that does the tourist bit between St Paul's and Trafalgar Square...
