Currently, it varies from state to state, but the federal minimum wage is $6.55 for non-tip earning wages.  If a state has passed a law giving a higher minimum wage, the state's law supersedes the federal one.  On July 24, 2009, the federal wage will become $7.25 an hour.

As of July 24, 2008 it increased to $6.55 an hour, which is c**p in my book, That's less then 1/2 for 1 gallon of gasoline, someone really needs to WAKE UP!!!
