Current from battery, Resistance and Total time before battery dies.?

charge stored is 50 Ah stored in 12 V battery of a car,

4 parkinf bulbs labeled 3.6 W/ 12 V

Now the THREE questions are:

1. Find the current from battery when ONLY 4 parkinf bulbs are switched on.

2. Resistance of 1 bulb.

3. How long it takes for battery to become dead of only parking lights are on

P.S. assume the internal resistance or battery and resistance of connecting wires are negligible.

  1. it depends on how much acide is under the the plastic parts .take one of the pour some water in it.

  2. 41-42 hours as you have in the other answers is correct.

    But only if the battery is in "like new" shape. A few years old and you will get a lot less. If you had it totally discharged a few times, then a LOT less.  maybe 10 hours.

  3. Assuming the bulbs are wired in parallel...

    P=VI

    3.6 W = 12V * I

    I = 3.6/12 = 0.3 amps * 4 lights = 1.2 amps

    V=IR

    12V / 0.3 amps = 40 ohms

    50 amp-hours in battery, 1.2 amps being used, so:

    50 amp-hrs / 1.2 amps = 41.67 hrs until battery is dead

  4. 1

    3.6w/12v is the current through one lamp. 4 lamps in parallel, multiply this by 4

    2

    3.6w/12v is the current through one bulb. 12v/i is the resistance.

    3

    amp hours  divide the number of amps into amp hours to get hours. 1 amp 50 hours 10 amps 5 hours. 100 amps .5 hours.
