Pakistan’s former leg-spinner, Abdul Qadir, has slammed modern-day players for their greed of money and expressed that cricketers used to find pride in representing their countries in the previous decades but this is not the case
anymore.
Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, a number of high-profile cricketers have started to prefer franchise cricket, as it is a source of making big money in a short span of time. The cash-rich league has
introduced new trends in the game and has shortened the careers of many star-players.

A number of other former cricketers also believe that franchise cricket is turning out to be a curse for the game and the International Cricket Council needs to take strong measures in order to protect cricket.
