  1. 24 college credits nets you E2/  48 gets E3.

but your medical training will have no impact on what job you get.  what job you get is based on your ASVAB line scores.  and Navy HM is full right now.. it could be months before a slot opened up.  the license means nothing to the military, you would still be required to attend THEIR training pipeline, no matter what job you get.

  2. I think you would start out as a E2, butt I know you wont start at the bottom, ask a recruiter. The army right now is giving Big sing on bonuses for that especially if you are all ready trained, Idk about the rest butt i do know the Air force is downsizing, so It will just depend on you.

  3. The Air Force DOES have medics.

  4. it wouldn't matter which branch you join, you will still have to go through medic training. the air force doesn't have medics, but they have pararescue.and you can be given advanced rank depending on how many college credits you have.

edit : megs, i was talking about paramedics, not nurses. so >=p

  5. Just having a paramedics license will not gain you any advanced promotions.

    Air Force:

20 college semesters hours gains E-2

    45 semester hours gains E-3

    Army:

    24 semester hours gains E-2

    48 semester hours gains E-3

    Navy:

    24 semester hours gains E-2

    48 semester hours gains E-3

  6. Jeeper one correction....college credit is not the only way to earn advanced rank in the Air Force.

The Air Force has Medical Technicians.  These are Nationally Registered EMT's.  However, in the military world our Med Techs are allowed to perform many more functions that a typically civilian EMT.  For example our med techs give immunizations to anyone who needs them.  Not to mention the fact that we have flying med techs, and combat med techs that run the gammet on what they can do.

Another person was also correct in that the only official Paramedics we have are our Pararescue Jumpers or PJ's for short.  This is a special ops career field.

As I have said many, many times in here....you need to do a lot of reserch on the internet prior to talking to any recruiter from any branch of the military.  Two of the best resources I have found are www.usmilitary.about.com and www.military.com .  Both of those sights provide a tremendous amount of information but I prefer the first one more.

don't forget you will also want to check into the Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Army Reserve, Army National Guard and the Navy Reserve.  These might provide you with more options that you originally thought.  I know that depending on where you live in the country, the Air Force Reserve will offer you the ability to join as an E-3 if you select a critical career field.  Where I recruit med tech is a critical career field so you get the bonus money, extra stripes etc.

You just need to be well veresed on all of your options prior to making any decisions.

    Good Luck!
