Currently I am working as Lecturer?

Question

My seniors has qualified NET and doing PH.D also. Someone has told me that NET has no relevance now only PH.D matters,is it true.Plz tell me because form next month NET form will be available,& if it has any importance I can go ahead with it,as I dont want to waste any time if it has no importance.
