Currently is a passport needed yet to walk across to tiajuana?

okay everyone I missed the parking lot to walk across the border to TJ and to my surprise you must have either a birth cert. or passport w/ your id. whether you walk or drive! I got a 15 min. lecture for not having my passport w/ me and how I am a security risk. The immigration off. put non-compliant on my name so next time I will get to spend the day in secondary screening. NO THANK YOU!

Passports are no needed for LAND travel to and from Mexico until June 2009. Now, you need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.
