I keep hearing about the radical feminists-but I see one or two women quoted who are dead or said something 30-40 years ago. Who are the 3rd wave radical feminists today and what do they want that mainstream feminists don't want-mainstream feminists want equal gender opportunities polically; socially; and socially-what do radical feminists want that is different from those mainstream feminist goals? Or is it radical just to want equal gender opportunities?

  1. Most of the examples I see are of certain politicians with their man taxes and their separate parking lots and what have you. That's what's considered radical today, and rightfully so.

  2. I want to be a radical feminist!

What's radical? To live the way I want and best I can as a full human being with full human rights and wanting a world where that is a reality for All women.

Edit: It seems to me that being a mainstream feminist today is still pretty radical.

  3. Girl, I seriously doubt anyone in here can answer that question for you. Most of the people who come in here spouting off about radicals or "feminize" are people that can't even give a god example of who these women are or the names of their organizations. The only name most of them can give you is N.O.W. and even then they have no names and no personal experience with who's the culprits. They just regurgitate what someone else said and label it as the truth.

  4. I will leave this vexing question in the capable hands of Tasha.  She's doing great so far.

  5. Radicals are disliked mostly because of the anti-male propaganda they spew forth.  I don't like them because they are sexist, and they give the entire movement a bad name.  Im not too sure on who the big-name radicals are.  To me, it doesn't matter - I try not to pay too much attention to what they say.

Fairly sure there are a few radicals on here, but  the rest are normal, logical people with common sense who don't buy in to it.

  6. How do we define a radical radical?

  7. Best definition I ever heard was that feminists want to be equal to men within the current system, while radical feminists believe the whole system is fatally flawed and harms everyone.  So a feminist may say "the system sucks for women, and there should be total equality within the system" while a radical feminist may say "wait a minute, let's take a look at the system and do we really want to be equal in the current system or make a new system?"  A radical feminist would say it's not right that a woman is made to feel guilty because she wants to be a working mom but it's just as important to question why we believe there's something wrong with the guy who wants to be a stay at home dad and raise the kids - let's give equal time to exploring why we raise "men" to believe they should be tough and not cry and play football and go off to war and question their sexuality if they like ballet.
