  1. That depends what sort of education you are aiming for. A classical educator may be insisting on Latin and Rhetoric. A maths professor will probably insist their kids study maths. Other people may allow their kids to specialise at that age, and be perfectly content with them reading nothing other than Russian Literature and studying linguistics. Still others insist on a rounded education and will have their kids continue the same program they did when they were younger, including art classes and music lessons.

In my opinion, the only mandatory thing is English. If one can not read and write effectively, one won't go far. Not to say that my kids will be allowed to study only English when they are this age, but if you are looking for the absolute minimum, that's what I think it is. Your country/ states laws had better be taken into account though.

  2. You really need to ask: "What courses are taken in high school?" followed by asking yourself "what courses do I want / need to complete during 10th and 11th?"

Your goal is to complete the necessary high school courses. The order in which you do so is somewhat up to you.  Some courses follow a logical progression such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus.

For my 9th grader, the high level rigorous college prep plan is as follows:

    English--------------- 7 credits

    Mathematics ------ 4 credits

    Science ------------ 4 credits

    History -------------  4 credits

    Spanish -----------  4 credits

    Electives ----------- 5 credits

    Physical Education - 2 credits

Next year (10th) the plan is Chemistry, Geometry, Science Lab Experience, World History, Speech Communication, Medieval Literature, Spanish II, PE for a total of 8.5 credits.

  3. Well, my 10th grader is taking

    Christian living: 1 credit

World Literature (Full year course: 1 credit)

Composition and Grammar (Full year course: 1 credit)

World History (Full year Course: 1 credit)

World Geography (Half year course: 1/2 credit)

French (Part of a 2 year, 2 credit course)

Geometry (Full year course: 1 credit)

Biology (Full year course: 1 credit)

PSAT Prep and Study Skills (Half year course, 1/2 credit)

P.E. (time based, however many credits she earns, 1 possible each year)

ART:  (A continuing of a course that will amount to 1 Art credit over four years, its worth about 1/4 credit each year.)

In 11th Grade she will take (some of her 11th grade classes will be at a community college)

Bible: (haven't decided on the exact course yet)

English (haven't decided on the exact course yet)

    Algebra 2

    Chemistry

    U.S. History

U.S. Government and Economics (1/2 credit each)

    Art (as described above)

    French (as described above)

    P.E. as described above

Occupational Education  (haven't decided exactly what the course will be)

12th Grade will likely be done almost completely at Community College, she will still need to take Music appreciation.  Some kind of English, Some Kind of Math, and a science, along with whatever she chooses to take.
