I have been adding currie spice to my diet of at least a 1 to 3 teaspoons per day. I do know that the main ingredient with the curing powder is Turmeric root and maybe cumin and fenegreek. Is it just as effective in powder currie form than raw?? and if it prevents or stops cancer , what types and for Alzheimers the same questions. In India, alzheimers is almost non existant and they consume 80% of the worlds currie supply or 90% use the fresh turmeric root?? Some genius guessed it must be turmeric route. Doctors will hate this question because the research is still in progress and this may be all specuation. Has the AMA , research community done any research or will the research be stymied till the drug companies extract the good stuff for pill and profit cure. Get us all hooked on drugs!!!

  1. I've heard Turmeric juice and Ginger root have amazing preventative and healing properties. This is a site with some info:

  2. I am a former chef and live here in Toronto Canada and I buy fresh turmeric root, it looks like a small knobbly ginger root with a orangey tinge, the turmeric powder is raw, it is just air dried and ground into a powder usually with some starch add to keep from clumping.

Turmeric is good for those ailments and I use whole fenugreek seeds in a hot water tea for my arthritis. If you have an Indian or Asian market with fresh fruits and veg, chances are they will carry the fresh, they use it in Thai and Malaysian dishes like curry pastes, Laska and rice dishes and with fish.

  3. Wow!  I don't have an answer for you but I wanted to thank you for the question!  My own mother suffers from Alzheimer's & it is one of my great fears!  I do enjoy curry (just had some at the British pub yesterday)...so I think I'll start enjoying that more often!

    Wish me luck?
