Hi, I need new curtains from my daughters room and the way curtais are measured has always confused me!! Is the width measurement on the packet the width of each curtain or both together ?? If my window is 155 cm wide what size curtains should I buy ?? Thanks for anyone who can help :) (I am in the UK by the way )

  1. Hi,The measurement on the packet is for each curtain. It depends also on the type of curtain you are going to use ie tab top, ring top, pleated or just a tube top for a pole. If you get double the width on the tab top or tube top you often end up with to much material on the pole so they look to bulky when open. So i would recommend you get double the size of the window for ring top and pleated but only one and a half times the size of the window for others.

  2. The width given on the packet is the width for one curtain.  You need to measure your window and double it for the complete width needed.  This will give plenty of folds.  If you are going for a very stiff fabric, you only need one and a half times the width of the window.  Then obviously divide by two to get the width of one curtain.
