Curtains in the living room?

I have a picture window in my living room. I would like to update my curtains but can not seem to find a style. Please make some suggestions.

  1. i dont know what you have in there right know, if they are plain you could try adding  a piece of fabric to the bottom or top , a wide piece of grosgrain ribbon, do you sew or know someone who does , this is the best way that way you get  what you want

If you have a great view out your picture window, I would suggest a valance on the top just to add softness and blinds underneath for privacy.  If the view out the picture window is not fantastic, you could get panels instead.  A solid color is preferred instead of panels with a pattern.  You don't want your curtains to be the focal point of the room.  These still could be opened for light to come into the room, if you choose.  The basic rule of fullness is:  take the width of your window and multiply that by 1 1/2 times (or 2 times if the panels are sheer and thin).

  3. have you considered putting blinds up instead of curtains?

  4. sure go to some home and furniture websites and stores and look around a little compares the qualitty and prices and wait a little as you will find the best curtian.. =)
