Curtis Granderson happy for R.A. Dickey’s new beginning with Toronto Blue Jays – MLB Update
The New York Yankees centre fielder Curtis Granderson is speaking quite openly about Toronto Blue Jays chances in the next Major League Baseball season.
He was recently present at Staten Island and gave out backpacks to children as part of the Hurricane Sandy Recovery Program. Later during a press conference, he was also asked several questions about Blue Jays’ new unit. The Blue Jays have acquired R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets.
“A lot of their top pitching guys were done. They were hurt, and obviously it wasn’t as good a team as they could have been, Some of their hitters, from (Jose) Bautista to (Edwin) Encarnacion, were hurt. I said, ‘Man if this team just gets healthy, they’re going to be really good,” Granderson said and explained in the media.
Granderson added with more detail, “They made the first big trade earlier in the offseason, now they add R.A. Dickey, They want to get into it.”
He further added, “It’s just baseball being baseball, We just got cold at the wrong time. . . . Baseball has a funny way of kind of happening that way.”
The Blue Jays certainly now is a strong unit after getting R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets. This was a complex deal for many as earlier Dickey was going to stay with the Mets with a two-year extension but later it revealed in the media that Mets and Blue Jays are preparing a seven-player deal which will sent Dickey into the Blue Jays.
Later it did happen and Dickey joined the Blue Jays. Along with his arrival in the Blue Jays, the experienced starter also was given another two-year extension on his contract with the Blue Jays.
Curtis Granderson was right that Blue Jays earlier mega trade with the Miami Marlins is also will give them a strong position in the coming season.
With this deal, the Blue Jays acquired Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson. Meanwhile, some say that Blue Jays in the presence of Mark Buehrle and R.A. Dickey will compete well in the next Major League big event.
