According to a leading sports website, Curtis Granderson still misses his time with Detroit Tigers. Although Granderson left the Tigers two years ago, he still has a great amount of respect for the Tigers coaches and managers. He still finds time to see his old team-mates. It will not be wrong to say that he is one of those people who never seem to forget their past.
Granderson moved to New York Yankees in 2009 and he has given decent performances since then. He displayed some high quality hitting skills in 2011 to post one of the finest seasons of his career. Not only he is strong and dynamic, he can be an asset on the field. His speed and agility is what makes a special player for New York Yankees. Despite having an MVP-type season with the Yankees, he talked about his memories with Detroit Tigers in an interview.
“People are surprised when I say that to them because they feel like their city or their team is that dominate and I go, ‘Same old is true in the state of Michigan’. Everywhere we would travel and play, anybody from the state of Michigan that may have relocated to these different cities that were there to watch us play had their Old English D’s on … They are letting you know that even (though) they live in this city or state now, ‘I’m from Michigan’. I see it a lot here in Chicago, a lot of Michigan people here,” said Granderson.
Having played for the Tigers for almost six years, the city of Detroit is like a second home to Granderson, who was brought up in Chicago. He further added that during his tenure with the Tigers, he had a unique opportunity to see his family and friends whenever his team visited Chicago for seasonal games.
His friends also visited Detroit occasionally to accompany him between 2004 and 2009. For his warm attitude, he is very famous among Tigers’ fans. It will be interesting to see if Granderson decides to move back to Detroit Tigers later in his career.
