Curtly Ambrose made the ball do all the talking back in the day
Former West Indian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Curtly-Elconn-Lynwall-Ambrose-c51793, has said that he was so confident of his skills during his playing days that he never had to sledge the batsmen, unlike some of the other great fast bowlers of his era.
The lanky Ambrose was one of the fiercest fast bowlers of his time because of his height and accuracy. However, the cricket fans hardly saw him using abusive language to distract his opponents.
Ambrose said that he always knew what he was capable of and expressed that he worked very hard to reach that level of excellence. The former fast bowler said that his motivation to become of the best in the game kept him going for years.
He added that cricketers of his generation used to work very hard in and off the field. However, Ambrose is disappointed that the current lot of players in the Caribbean do not work as hard.
Sharing how he never felt the need to sledge, Ambrose said, "I didn't need to, man. I knew how to bowl. You seek inspiration from your own commitment and hard work. I worked very hard as a fast bowler. My teammates did the same. If you have the determination
to do well, that should be enough to inspire you."
Curtly has an outstanding record in both Test cricket and the limited overs format of the game. He played 98 Test matches for his country and scalped 405 at an amazing average of 20.99 runs per wicket. On top of that, he has 225 One Day International wickets
under his belt as well.
Hoping that West Indian cricket will get back on track, Ambrose added that he is proud of what he has achieved in international cricket and to play alongside some of the legends produced by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 was a sheer honour.
"I'm sure West Indies will be back again. This is a phase and it will pass. Like you do your job, I did mine. I grew up watching great cricketers and was fortunate to play with a few of them. I enjoyed while I was at it," he stated.
