In a custody case, where a Guardian Ad Litem has been appointed for a child, when it's time for the hearing, can the Guardian Ad Litem be questioned by either side as to the basis for their reports and opinions?

I asked a detailed question yesterday and was given some great information. I have found the laws regarding the matter and understand them fairly well. I still am not finding anything as to whether or not the GAL can actually be direct and cross examined during the hearing, though. This is very important because she's not done her job, according to the law. I do know what the purpose for the GAL is.

  1. that is the reason for the guardian at litem..that person is appointed by the court to watch out for the childs best interests,i know the GAL in my custody case was asked and answered questions..but i dont thnk anything he said held too much water..my GAL had recently been arrested for drunk driving and stealing a gas company truck..not someone i wanted to be involved...good luck
