This is what I plan to build for gaming, don't suggest new parts unless they will be same/cheaper price with same/better performance or if one of my parts is not compatible with the other parts.

Question: 32-bit vs 64-bit????

Question: I know what the north/south bridge on a motherboard does but I don't know which ones are good. Are the bridges on my motherboard good?

  1. Those are good parts, and they will all work together, and your mobo is fine, but you may want to check out the nforce 750i series before you buy. As for an OS, 64 bit versions can support more RAM than a 32 bit one. 32 bit versions can only support up to 3.25GB. I'd say go with a 64 bit version so that you have room to improve later.

  2. It will game ok. I build and sell gamers and put 64bit Ultimate in them.

Over 10% faster than its 32bit sibling. I also use E8500s and send them out the door clocked at 3.8, althou they will go over 4. Games aren't quad pumped right now. When they start to come out with quad pumped games then I'll start running 8 core Nehalems that are due out next month and are 20-30% faster than what we're running now:

Doesn't make sense for a rig built for gaming to run 2.4 Ghz on only 2 cores at 1066FSB with a Q6600 when you can run 3.16 on 2 cores at 1333FSB with an E8500. If you dont plan on swapping cpus a year from now when the quad pumped games are out then I guess a quad would be the way to go now then.

Chipsets are good. P43 is basically the P45 without Crossfire and the Southbridge is the latest and greatest, without the Raid. If youre not gonna run 2 cards and run hard drives in Raid its all you need. P43 will overclock good too.

The P43 and 45 Intel chipsets are the last 775 chipsets there is gonna be. Next will be chipsets for the Nehalem cpus like the X58.
