Custom Sub box for my 1999 F-150, What style is better?

If I was to make my own sub box for under the back seat of my 1999 F-150 would I be better to make a Sealed, Ported, Crossover, or any other style there is. I was personally thinking of making it a mix, meaning dual sub box one ported one sealed. If there is any other suggestions let me know what it is and how it would look (A Pic would help if you can find one of what you suggest). Thanks All!

  1. Usually sealed is best firing down. There are a few companies that make them prefab that are vehicle specific..

  2. Sealed boxes are generally ideal for cars with trunks because the trunk acts sort of like its own box giving you that high quality sound, whereas you don't have a trunk I would suggest a ported box in order to create that trunk like sound. Hope this helps! It all depends on how you want your music to sound like the previous answers said.

  3. it all depends on how you like your music.  because of the space constraints, i would go with sealed tho

  4. Just due to the space constraints. I would suggest that you go with a small sealed enclosure. It would be very hard to tune a ported enclosure that is that small, with accuracy. It is possible. Just very hard.

As far as the mixed box. You would run into some very problematic tonal differences. The two boxes would try to recreate the same notes differently. With the fairly flat response of the sealed box and a peak in response at the tuning frequency from the ported one, they would "compete".
