Question:

Custom air intake? 91 plymouth acclaim

I wanted better fuel economy so took off my air box and stuck a high flow cone filter in it is there anything else i need to do with computers or something? air sensor or something like that or am i good?

  1. Move the air filter (air inlet point) outside of the engine compartment, preferably to a cool area inside fender and forward of the front wheel, just below the battery, also protect it from water splash, to be safe. This will allow cooler  air charge and will allow more advance and power when other mods are added, also will make the engine less likely to detonate (ping).

  2. I doubt if you will realize much of a difference but no further modification is necessary, the sensors that monitor air flow are after the filter so the cars computer will make its fuel trim adjustments as before.
