Custom duty on IGI Delhi airport?

HI, i am carrying 2 digial camera and 2 ipods on my way back to delhi from USA. I know this exceeds the limit of permissable value (total $1500 value). How is the customs check in new delhi? Do they allow you to pass or they will charge custom duty for sure?

You have to pay customs duty.  However, if you give a declaration that you will take back the items when you go, no duty will be charged.

Customs is cool these days. As everything is available these days in India. No one cares or bothers. Unless you have too much.

If you are traveling alone, then you will probably have to say 1 is for gifts.. And use 1 I Pod for yourself.

Otherwise they can be distributed. No one really cares much. Custom is so reasonable these days.
