where can I get a custom made katana? I want a rose katana.. like a REALLY beautiful katana NOT stainless steal handmade and functional http://www.topicool.com/sword/handmade-japanese-sword/hand-forged-katana-sword-w--mother-of-pearl-sakura-maroon-1047.html

kindda like that because I want carvings of roses on the sword. it shouldbe between 200-1000 as STRONG as possible. and the sheath should be metal so that I can use it in battle because one og my fighting styles has sheat h AND a sword to battle.... sooooo where cna I get that made or if theresw one that would be good.. the person who gives me the BEST link to the best katana or sword mader gets 10 points. remember. it MUST have carvings if you find one and the sheath MUST have roses on it ect. use the other link as an example. otherwise give me the link to to custom sword maker. Thanks.

  1. try bugei trading company.

they do good work but expect to pay through the nose for any legitimate dealer to make you a custom made katana.

a more practical place for the roses would be on the tsuba.

  2. try http://www.handmadesword.com

    a professional sword seller.

  3. I doubt you can afford such a weapon. Horimono (sword engraving) is vary rare on jitsuyoto. It might be possible to get one from a Japanese swordsmith, but the cost would be in excess of 10,000 dollars for such a gendaito. Japanese swords are not made with metal saya, with the exception of early twentieth century gunto (which more often than not are not quality made swords). If you want a custom sword with artwork on the saya, you might try roninswords.com.

What japanese sword style uses the saya as a weapon? This is highly unusual. The delicate wood and buffalo horn that is used to make them would not be able to sustain damage from another sword. Plus japanese swords are used with both hands, so having one hand holding the saya would be a waste. Advanced swordsmen sometimes perform nitoken, but as two katana weighing in at close to three pounds are difficult to wield, most only use one.
