Custom made leather jacket?

Sometimes you find someone making custom leathers at a rally. Anyone have experience with getting one made from scratch?

I have had a custom jacket and pants made from srcatch.  The bloke who made them had been in the business for 30 years and was a real professional.  They fitted like a second skin, especially when you compare them to "off the shelf" leathers.  I was able to choose the leather I wanted, and the leather quality was superb.  Supple, yet tough.  They have built in room, just in case of a sudden waistline expansion!  The only drawback is the price, however, a good set of hand made, custom leathers should last a lifetime.
