I have custom orthotic inserts for plantar fasciitis. Am I suppose to take out the insoles that are already in my shoes or leave them in and put the custom orthotics over top of them?

  1. I have custom orthotics for plantar faciitis as well and if its custom and were molded for your feet like mine you want to take the shoe lining out. Mine contain a hard shell to provide an arch and there is a foam cushion attached to it. They make a world of difference, enjoy!

  2. Depending on the type of orthotic length and design will depend if you need to take out the innersoles or your shoe.

For example, if you have a full length orthotic (the same length as the innersole) then take out the innersoles and replace with the custom foot orthotics.

If you have a 3/4 length foot orthotic then you can sit these on the innersole already in the shoe depending how much room there is. If you have 3/4 orthotics try them with the innersole in and with the innersole out. Comfort and fit of the custom foot orthotics is really important.

You need to make sure the foot orthotics are sitting in the shoe properly and sit right back in the shoe.

    Hope this answers your question.
