I found a really cool link that teaches how to Sunburst a guitar.

http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/sunburst.html

I was thinking to just sand off the front (black) and leave the side and back of the les paul black. Then put the base color (violet) and then apply the black aerosol around the violet to make it look like a Goddess. Then apply some lacquer gloss to bring it back to it's finish. Would this be a good thing to do to my guitar? If i still do it correctly will it have that muffled sound? I dunno. I was already going to repaint my strat so i was also thinking about my les paul :)

thanks for answers

  1. I suggest that you go to some one who restores guitars. The techniques that you are talking about may change the sound quality in an extreme way and devalue your instrument. Please be careful.

  2. I understand your need to

"show your style", but you will lose all value in selling or trading your guitar.  Just something to think about.
